Aren't you relieved?
I needed a new skin care regime. My "T" zone was super dry and flakey sometimes. I went to Ulta and was chatting with one of the sales reps. She recommended Dermalogica so I bought one of those kits. I'm now being a grown up and not just using hand soap and regular facial lotion on my face. So far I like what it is doing to my face. It feels nice. AND I recently got a compliment on my face by a coworker. She said she could tell I'm doing something different.

Now with 50% more Carol Brady hair

I looked in a window and saw my reflection as I was walking somewhere yesterday and realized I had Carol Brady hair... but only on one side. I don't have the bangs across the forehead, and the length on the sides is a bit longer, but that flip in the back... totally there. Only on my right hand side though. I can't wait until this weird length phase is over for my hair. I may do something drastic if it doesn't improve soon. (Also it is too short to tie up, but long enough to hang on my neck so it gets hot!)

So it really IS all about that
I was thinking about things to talk about today and really the sad part is I've got nothing... nothing but job searching and how much that sucks and how I hate to be doing it and how there are some things that if I have to leave Seattle I'll really miss. How I'm anxious at the thought of coming in and managing a team I didn't hire. (Since I currently manage one person I did hire). Maybe even one of whom wanted the manager job but didn't get it or couldn't get it. Who knows. And since I work one on one with my employee, how do I fit into a new team? With the exception of the Denver job, I have not applied for any other positions that are a step back. That scares me too. What if I fail? (I know I say in my head all the time What's the worst that can happen, I die? but Seattle seems to have made me more neurotic than I was before. Who knew that was humanly possible?)
But in non-sucky/whiny things... I didn't not get the job in Denver. They had some sort of personnel crisis so they will be letting people know if they are up for next round interviews next week. That could be great. Denver is #1 on my hope list right now.
The job I would love in Chicago keeps getting reposted. I'm presuming that means my lack of project management experience is a negative. :) That's fine. I didn't really even expect an interview for that one but I just imagine I would LOVE it.
Had a good phone screen with a hospital in Atlanta. (Well I think it went well, who knows really). Should hear if I'm selected for next round next week. Since I only applied for them on Friday and she called me on Monday I took that as a positive sign. Which means, really I could have screwed it up. :)
I think job searching this round has been less traumatic for me than last time because I know I'm asking for a lot. I am asking to be relocated in a bad economy. Theoretically there should be people in these places that can do this stuff. Although based on the number of jobs I see reposted in places I don't want to go (or positions that upon reading the description I think no, that's not for me) that may not be the case. I frequently fret that my career path is too niche but maybe that's not such a terrible thing. I also keep reminding myself that my boss posted the new boss job 4/14 and is just this week doing phone screens. This shit takes time, yo.
One thing I could do without... so many of the insurance companies contacting me to sell insurance products. I'm not a sales person. I would never ever want to do that. Even if I could earn upwards of 200k. (Like I believe that).
In other non-sucky/non-whiny/non-job things I'm getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow. Whee! Finally. It is at an awkward in between stage that I really don't like so much. It is constantly held back with a head band because the bangs are long enough to sweep to the bottom of my nose and tickle and itch it but not long enough to tuck behind my ears. I can't decide if I go back to short short because I'll be doing interviews and want to look my best or if I get some sort of in between maintenance done and call it good because I want to grow it back out. Decisions decisions. Also sometime after payday (I was supposed to do this this month) I've got to field trip to the Bellevue fatchick store so I can buy a new interview outfit.

To Cover or Not To Cover
That is the question. My dress for the big work fancypants gala is low enough in the back to expose my dragonfly. Last year it wasn't as big a concern because I had longer hair that did some semblence of hiding it. (Not completely but it was better than what it will be with the New! Short! Hair!) So do I a - buy a different dress (I don't want to. I LOVE my dress. And a quick perusal of Nordstroms.com shows me that even if it comes up higher in the front, the backs still plunge.) b - buy a different wrap/shrug that I can wear and cover it. c - Not worry about it. I'm leaning towards C.

New Hair!
And here's my hair today! I cut off a lot of it obviously. I went to the Gene Juarez Acadamy and I definitely think I'll go back to Charli. I like what she did. I did freak her out, though, I could tell. :)
Here's how short it is in the back. It feels so weird. I haven't had my hair this short in like 22 years. Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Weigh In
I'm chopping off all my hair. I just can't take it anymore. All I do is tie it up. I have rather fine hair, but there are a ton and a half of them. So what do you think of these? Three other things to keep in mind: 1 - I hate my hair in my eyes. 2 - I don't want to look like a lesbian and 3 - I am willing to use product what not in my hair but not have a whole hair routine. One final thought... I have a round face. Please feel free to post your own links to something better. I never know. I'm such a waffler.

This is essentially a bob which may not work for me since it looks like it might hit on the fat part of my face.
I kind of like this, but maybe not. It may be longer than I want.

This one is cute. Looks simple. Hair in eyes is a downer, but may not be too bad. Or maybe can be adapted with the shorter bang.

I like this one too, but would it make me look old??

Well and there's always this option. (Kidding, I swear but it is featured on the page I got these styles from and I laugh a little bit every time I see it. Could not be more lesbionic if it tried).

Jam Packed!
At the ass crack of dawn (or 8:30) on Saturday I went to get my hair cut. Three hours later I left with shorter hair and touched up roots. :) Yay! I like the cut. I originally was going to go and just get a trim but Saturday morning I randomly decided to have them take a lot more off. The stylist took off 6 inches. Yay.
Randomly, I'm watching an old episode of Law & Order SVU and two embryos of a woman were implanted into two different women. One girl died in a car accident and the mom (crazy with grief and positive her kid was still alive) had her daughter's picture aged by an artist. She saw a kid in the park who looked like the aged picture and attempted to kidnap her. So my confusion is why would the two kids look exactly alike? They wouldn't be twins because they were separate eggs. (Of course this is a TV show I'm trying to puzzle through. Sad that is.) (Also, Queens is on the beach?) (Although this episode does have Abigail Breslin and I like her) (Also, Lea Thompson plays crazy very well, but I'm sad that she is relegated to playing roles in Law & Order SVU)
Anyway... sometime this past week Lyday and I were driving around and we went past the zoo. We decided to go today. It was a perfect day for the zoo. The weather was just right and the sun was shining. I took pictures. Eventually I'll post them (maybe). I saw the flamingos which apparently are a big deal (although their enclosure seems a bit small to me but I don't really know too much about flamingos. Maybe they only travel in small areas). We went into the butterfly and blooms exhibit. That's one of my favorites because I just love all the butterflies! We did not go into the bug exhibit. Although in this one exhibit we were looking at snakes and lizards and other cool things when I came across an exhibit of hissing roaches. Those freak me the fuck out. I think it is because when I was little I was visiting my grandfather and he lived in a trailer on the farm. This married couple and their like 5 I think kids had a trailer next to my pappy's. I think the adults worked on the farm and I remember staying the night over there. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and there were roaches everywhere. It scared me so badly I didn't go pee and instead lay back down in the bedroom and stayed awake for much of the night. And on that note, I'm going to bed. Night y'all!

Prettyified part 2
Well obviously married Michelle knows something. I've gotten several compliments today. :)
Prettyfied
So over on Michelle's new blog, I asked how a spinster like me can improve her odds at finding Mr. Right (NOT by asking out every guy who may catch my eye, Stephen). To that end, I've got a new goal. I'm going to try to make an effort by wearing a bit of makeup every day and doing something with my hair. Today I'm wearing it down with a headband. I'm also wearing a bit of eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss. I think I might take a bit of my tax refund and buy some matching under garments. I remember back in college my mom went on a weird buying spree and bought me quite a few matchy matchy things and although nobody else saw them, I still felt kind of sexy wearing them.
So today's outfit: Off white sweater that I always have liked, blue jeans, white socks with cute flowers on them and brown mary janes that show the cute socks. :)

Tattoo toooo
Since Michelle wanted to go to LA Ink to get her next tattoo and we discovered that in order to get one from one of the LA Ink artists, you have to apply to be on the show, the odds are good I'm not getting one over Thanksgiving. But I am still considering a 2nd one. I've had a new thought about a possible design... I like Michelle's idea of that little triangle between the boobies (Although it does present certain challenges for actually getting the tattoo. :) Not really, a button down shirt should work actually). I've had a new thought about the design. I'm thinking of a horseshoe. Similar to this one, although for the size and space I have in mind, it might have to be smaller which means you lose out on detail. It would also have to be right side up (the curve down and the 2 ends up) so that all the luck doesn't run out. :)

Concerned
Ok so I have some concern that my hair looks like this... Notice the brown around the face and then the red? That's concerning to me. I followed the instructions about putting some conditioner on my head around my face so I don't dye my scalp, but it looks like I put too much in or something. Anyway. I have to wash it tonight and we'll see what happens. I do think I like the rest of the color. It is back to that brickesh red color that I liked before. If I could remember for the life of me what brand of hair dye I bought I'd post a link to the color. I'll have to look it up at home.
Experimentation
(Not like that you pervs) :)
I've done something I've never done before... I dyed my own hair. Now I've gone to the salon and had it done and I've done it for other people but I've never done it to myself. It was a bit more difficult than I thought, yet easier than I thought at the same time. :) I have a patch I missed and unfortunately it is right in the front. I've just put more dye into that one little spot to see if it will help. Otherwise I think it might look okay. We'll see. It is still damp so it is hard to tell.
